Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions govern enrolment and participation at Firstpointe School of Dance. By enrolling, students and parents/guardians agree to the following policies.
1. Enrolment Policy
All students must register through the School’s enrolment form before attending their first class.
Fees are payable upon enrolment and before the start of each term.
A one-time registration fee of $50 applies to new enrolments. This fee is waived for students who confirm their enrolment within 7 days of their trial class.
A late fee of $50 may apply to overdue accounts.
A refundable deposit of $150 is required for new enrolments.
The deposit is refundable with one month’s written notice during an active term; otherwise, it will be forfeited.
Students are responsible for fees relating to RAD examinations, additional coaching classes and other associated costs.
A tax invoice will be issued at least one week before each term or upon enrolment.
Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable between students or terms, except in cases of serious illness requiring hospitalisation or physical injury.
2. Academy Terms
Firstpointe operates across four academic terms:
Term 1: January – March
Term 2: April – June
Term 3: July – September
Term 4: October – December
Each term consists of 11 weeks.
Term breaks generally follow local school holidays. Classes are not conducted on public holidays or during selected school activities such as concerts and workshops. These classes may not be replaced.
Updated schedules will be published on the School’s website and noticeboard.
3. School Regulations
Class Scheduling
Class schedules are determined by Firstpointe and may be combined, transferred or discontinued where necessary.
Students progressing to a higher level after examinations may have longer or more frequent classes.
Attendance
Regular attendance is important for consistent progress.
Teachers or office staff should be informed of any absence.
Students who are not considered ready for ballet examinations may be required to attend additional coaching or remain at their current level for a further year.
Class Cancellations
If Firstpointe cancels a class, students may be offered:
An alternative class
A rescheduled session
Additional time during existing classes
Firstpointe reserves the right to cancel classes without replacement or refund in circumstances beyond its control, including public health concerns, haze or similar events.
Withdrawal & Termination
Enrolment continues automatically from term to term unless written notice of withdrawal is provided.
One full calendar month’s written notice is required during an active term.
Students who withdraw are not eligible for ongoing promotions for 12 months from the withdrawal date.
Withdrawn students are not entitled to make-up lessons.
Any outstanding balance at the point of withdrawal will be forfeited.
Classroom Regulations
Students must:
Arrive punctually
Wear the appropriate Firstpointe uniform and footwear
Inform the School of any medical condition or injury
Bring only plain water into the studio
For ballet classes:
Female students must wear their hair in a neat bun with appropriate hair accessories.
Short hair should be secured with a soft headband.
Male students must keep hair away from the face.
Parents are not permitted to observe classes except during designated Open House sessions.
Class Policies
Term classes may be cancelled if fewer than 3 students enrol.
Teachers will recommend the appropriate class level following assessment.
RAD/CSTD classes may have timetable changes around examination periods.
Students preparing for RAD examinations are required to attend two regular weekly classes.
Make-up lessons cannot be used to replace the required examination-training classes.
Make-Up Lessons
Make-up lessons are available for occasional absences due to valid reasons.
They must:
Be arranged with office staff in advance
Be subject to class availability
Be completed within 6 months
Make-up lessons are not intended to replace regular weekly attendance.
4. RAD Examination Policy
Students progressing from Primary to Grade 1 must take the RAD examination and complete at least 6 months of coaching beforehand.
From Grade 1 onwards, students are required to attend two classes per week throughout the training year.
Examination participation is subject to review by the Artistic Director.
Firstpointe may choose not to enter students who are considered not ready for examination.
Examination fees are payable separately from regular tuition and coaching fees.
5. Refund Policy
No refunds, discounts or credits are provided for missed classes.
Transfers to another class are subject to availability, and fees may be adjusted accordingly.
If a student stops attending classes completely, attended classes will be charged at the full applicable rate.
No refunds will be provided where classes move online due to a pandemic, public health concern or government closure.
Where possible, make-up arrangements may be offered during a future term.
6. Communication & Noticeboard
Parents and students are responsible for checking Firstpointe’s website and noticeboard regularly for updates.
Primary communication may take place through:
Phone
WhatsApp
Email, where consent has been given
Students and parents are encouraged to save Firstpointe’s contact number to receive WhatsApp broadcast updates.
Firstpointe states that personal information will not be shared without consent and that the School follows Singapore PDPA guidelines.
7. Costume & Concert Policy
Costume deposits may be required for performances and events.
Costumes will not be supplied without the required deposit.
All costumes are designed and approved by Firstpointe.
Related costume fees are the responsibility of students or parents.
Participation in the annual performance is encouraged but not compulsory.
Full attendance at rehearsals is strongly recommended.
8. Consent & Liability
Students or parents/guardians must inform Firstpointe of any:
Injuries
Medical conditions
Illnesses that may affect participation
A doctor’s letter may be required before returning to training following an injury.
Firstpointe states that it is not liable for injuries sustained during classes, rehearsals or performances.
Any medical costs arising from injuries are the responsibility of the student or their parent/guardian.
9. Ballet Attire & Grooming
Students must wear the designated Firstpointe uniform for their class level.
Alternative leotards are not permitted.
Students must maintain a neat and tidy appearance during class.
Girls should wear their hair in a neat high or low bun.
Boys should keep their hair away from the face.
10. Valuables
Students are advised not to bring valuables or large amounts of cash to the studio.
Firstpointe is not responsible for lost or stolen belongings.
11. Photography, Video & Choreography Copyright
Permission from teachers and relevant participants must be obtained before taking photographs or recording videos during classes.
Photos and recordings:
Are for personal use only
Must not be sold
Must not be uploaded to social media without permission
All choreography, stage concepts, costume designs and lighting designs are considered the intellectual property of Firstpointe and may not be reproduced or performed without written permission.
12. Friends of Firstpointe Membership
Enrolled Firstpointe students are entitled to 10% off selected dancewear and accessories.
Benefits may change without prior notice.
Membership is non-transferable.
Membership cannot be exchanged for cash or credits.
Membership ends when the student is no longer enrolled at Firstpointe.
13. Personal Data Protection
Firstpointe follows Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) guidelines when handling client information.
The School states that personal data will not be shared with unrelated external parties.
